On the 16th of April 2013, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, Science Advisor of the Prime Minister, officiated the Korea-ASEAN Research and Development Cooperation Forum 2013. The event was jointly organised by the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Korea (MOTIE) and Korea Institute of Advancement of Technology (KIAT).

L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science National Fellowship is now open for Malaysian women researchers under the age of 35 years, who are PhD holders or currently pursuing research study in the field of Material Sciences. A financial assistance of RM20,000 each will be granted to 3 young female researchers.

The 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2013), to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 30 June to 3 July 2013 will mark another milestone in the course of the HIV epidemic – against a backdrop of renewed optimism that the epidemic could be controlled by 2050. The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science, established by the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) and The Mortimer D. Sackler Foundation, Inc., has finalised agreement to work with the Health Ministry of Malaysia. Malaysia is the first national government to agree to such partnership with the institute.

The Society in Science Fellowship has a fresh approach to research, offering junior scientists throughout the world a generous personal grant of up to five years to pursue novel scientific projects. Founded in 2002 by the late Swiss entrepreneur, Dr. Branco Weiss, the aim of this fellowship is to provide researchers a platform to extend their scientific work in the natural sciences and engineering.
