Conference: The 6th ASEAN Congress of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology

ACTMP 2014 The Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (MSPTM) is organising the  6th ASEAN Congress of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology (ACTMP) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 5-7 March 2014. The Congress is organised in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of the MSPTM. The theme for the congress is “GLOBAL CHALLENGES IN TROPICAL DISEASES: Bridging Gaps and Building Partnerships”.
The first ASEAN Congress of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology (2004) was held in Malaysia by the MSPTM and has since been held in Indonesia (2006), Thailand (2008), Singapore (2010), and Philippines (2012). The Congress brings together researchers and program managers so as to synergise the research findings to increase our understanding of tropical diseases, improve diagnosis and move forward with control activities.

Major research developments have taken place in Tropical Medicine and Parasitology in the past fifty years and we hope that this congress will provide an opportunity for the exchange of scientific ideas and provide a forum to discuss important advances in these fields. With the advent of new and emerging diseases in this part of the world, this congress will provide a platform for dissemination of current research information on these topics.

The Congress will provide a unique platform for meeting colleagues, researchers, program managers, clinicians and mentors. In short the Golden Jubilee will be a wonderful meeting point for researchers from academia, industry and clinics both from industrialized and developing countries and hence strengthen existing friendships and forge new ones. The existence of this Society for the past 50 years speaks volumes and it has been organising successful seminars and conferences for the past fifty years.

Several social programmes have been planned to entertain delegates and accompanying persons. Malaysia has many places of interest and it is a nature’s paradise. It is also a cultural melting pot of many races. There are excellent sporting, shopping and recreational facilities. One can experience a myriad of culinary delights and witness a variety of cultural activities. We hope you will accept our invitation to participate in the Congress and join us in Kuala Lumpur to make this a memorable congress.

We look forward to meeting all our local and overseas members at this congress.

Abstract submission deadline is already closed but non-presenting delegates who would like to attend this congress are welcomed to register manually by contacting Ms Adela Jiram at [email protected]. Please visit for more information.
